Quartz Cuckoo Installation Instructions

Quartz cuckoo
We will see how to install a traditional quartz cuckoo, in a few simple steps.
(Speaking of quartz cuckoo, we are referring to a cuckoo clock running on batteries)

1. Once the cuckoo comes out of the box, carefully position the hands on 12: 00 hours
2. On the back of the clock, open the panel and place the batteries in it: 2 batteries of type R14 (also called size C) (commonly used all over the world) for quartz cuckoos without music, and 3 R14 type batteries for quartz cuckoos with music. (attention obviously to the poles +/- Unlike many other electronic devices the batteries are placed in the same direction)
3. Close the back panel.
4. Hang the cuckoo clock on the wall in the desired location (usually at eye level or see higher up to about 2 meters).
5. Hang the balance on the hook provided for its effect, as well as the two counterweight fictitious.
5. Turn the large minute hand clockwise to the desired time, but be careful! Take care to stop every hour, allowing time for the cuckoo to sing!

You are ready to enjoy your new protege!

Further information

- On the side of the clock, there is a switch that stops the cuckoo from singing. The hour continues to turn.

- All quartz cuckoos are fitted with a light detector: as soon as it gets dark, the cuckoo automatically stops singing.

- It is strongly recommended to use alkaline type batteries. Firstly because they last longer than ordinary batteries, but also, and this is important in our case, they remain constant until the end! Unlike the other batteries which weaken nicely and which one fine day do not give enough power to our cuckoo to go out and sing. (note that this is not negligible, because seeing your clock always on time, but the cuckoo no longer coming out, the first idea you will have will be to think of a fault. In this case, it will suffice to follow our valuable advice; change the batteries :)

- The weights as well as the pendulums are purely decorative. You can put them on or take them off as you see fit. Some customers even bought a quartz cuckoo clock to put it on a table!

Set the time: if the cuckoo song does not match the time

Here are two methods to synchronize the number of cuckoo calls with the current time:

1 METHOD
- Remove the batteries from the cuckoo clock.
- Position the hands so that they indicate 12:15 (by turning only the large hands as many turns as necessary)
- Put the batteries back in the cuckoo clock
- Set the cuckoo clock on time (by only turning the large hand clockwise to the correct time)
(This method works, because by removing the batteries, the cuckoo will reset to its original position which is 12 o'clock.)

2 METHOD
Turn the minute hand (the large one) clockwise until 12 o'clock. Count the number of songs (3 songs, for example), then carefully turn the hour hand (the small one) to 3 hours. Your cuckoo clock is now synchronized. All you have to do is reset it to the time, with the minute hand (the large one) clockwise, to the correct time. You can turn this minute hand fairly quickly without having to let the cuckoo ring every time.

The instructions described above were written by us. Based on the official instructions, we thought to detail them at best.
